Ronaldo Beats Messi Yet Again to Claim FIFA’s Best Male Player Crown

The Portuguese star has successfully defended his title after beating Messi and Neymar in the process. The Real Madrid striker helped his club in defending the Champions league trophy and also took them to the La Liga glory.

He had a stellar 2016-17 and netted 25 times in La Liga and 12 goals in the continental competition. There were 24 players initially in the list, which was then brought down to 3 finalists.

The winner was selected based on the votes of current coaches of national teams, current captains of national teams, a journalist from each territory represented by a national team and fans from around the world.

“Thank you, a lot, to the guys who voted for me. I must also mention Leo and Neymar, for being here,” Ronaldo said after receiving the award from legendary Maradona and his Brazilian namesake.

He also thanked the club, coaches, teammates and his millions of fans across the globe. Meanwhile, Zidane took home the best coach award. Giroud was awarded with the Puskas award for the best goal of 2016-17 for his stunner against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
